Dr. Christopher Brissette

What Iā€™m all about.

Education.

I hold a doctorate of computer science from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where I was part of the High Performance Combinatorics and Graph Analytics Laboratory and advised by George Slota. I additionally hold a B.S. in physics and an M.S. in applied mathematics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Research.

My research interests broadly exist at the intersection of functional analysis and computational graph theory with a focus on scalable computing. This had led me to study varying problems including graph generation, graph coarsening, graph clustering, and graph neural networks.

Communication.

I believe it is incredibly important to communicate complicated analyses with new researchers, as well as a broad, less technical audience. This is a skill I have iterated on over many conference talks at venues such as Complex Networks and SIAM meetings.

Problem solving.

I love diving into new things. Fortunately, graph problems involve everything from road-networks to parallel computing architectures. With such an expansive catalog of questions, it is a joy to engage with arising problems in academia and industry.

Breadth.

Given my education, its not surprising that I have a broad variety of interests. I have researched in bio-physics in the context of numerical simulations. I have additionally performed novel cryptanalysis research as part of a grant with Raytheon. I am always open to a new technical problem.

Leadership.

It is incredibly important to lift new researchers and workers. I have worked hard with many masters and undergraduate students to introduce them to novel research projects, and submit those findings at academic conferences.
